A professional skin peel involves a consultation with your doctor who will perform a clinical assessment of yor skin which involves enquiring about any skin reactions to sunlight, active skin conditions, perform a skin typing assessment, as well as any current cosmetics being used.

The doctor can recommend either an in-clinic or take home treatment depending on the treatment purpose and your skin type. A test patch will be performed prior to a checmical peel procedure to identify potential allergic reaction or adverse response to a specific peel product. Patch test sites are located discretely near the treatment area.

With professional peels, most people feel a light burning sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. The average peel takes six to seven days to complete. Your Dr or Nurse will provide you with more information and ensure you are comfortable during and after you procedure.

Expect to be a bit red for a few hours after this cosmetic therapy, and sun sensitive for about a week. Avoid the sun and wear a high SPF sunscreen.

Skin concerns such as broken blood vessels or brown spots are best treated with other skin rejuvenation techniques, including a series of IPL facials. Our qualified cosmetic medical doctor, Dr Ayo, can review your skin concerns and discuss the most effective skin options for you.

The results can be seen in the improvements in skin texture and brightness may be observed with a single treatment. However, a series of six chemical peels are usually necessary to achieve more marked improvements in skin smoothness, reduction of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, oiliness and acne. Results can be further enhanced by combining peels with Microdermabrasion and topical home care products.

Pain relief as necessary within the first 48hrs such as Ibuprofen may be required due to the feeling of discomfort which could last 4-hrs after the peel. Sweeling may also occur over the first 3 days. A cold moist compress can be used to help cleanse and soothe the area up to 4-6 times per day.

Cracking and peeling occurs 5-7 days after the peel. Hypoallergenic moistures and cosmetics may be applied once the healing is complete and normal skin care 7-10 days after the peel. It is recommended to use a SPF 50+ for the first 6 months to avoid pigmentary issues.
